Today, we sent out a 6′ by 6-8′ tall adjustable magnetic chalkboard for ESPN-U’s broadcast studio. The entire job was custom made to their specifications.

Did you know that rust-oleum makes a magnetic paint? Really cool stuff. If you hover a magnet over it the paint will reach for it.

Charlotte Metal Work

Greg Weston - Deity of Charlotte Metalworking

We talk about our tv set designs, kiosks, displays, museum exhibits and the like, well… constantly. For this reason I thought it would be a good time to take a time out to mention one of the other things we do: Metalworking.

The fact that we do work with steel, aluminum, welding, grinding, powder coating, MIG, and TIG compliments us being able to completely create our sets and displays in-house.

However, what many people don’t know is that we provide the metalworking services to our region also. Need something welded? something metal fixed, or a sculpture made of stainless steel that stands 3 stories tall? We can do all of that for you.

Greg Weston, The manager of our metalworking department is a UNCC graduate with his major on sculpture. What do you get from that? A service provider that isn’t just a disgruntled guy covered in steel shavings. He is an artist (that is covered in steel shavings) with a knack for perfection that will make sure his  job is done perfectly.

If you have any metal working needs, just give us a call, or email via our contact information.

Banner Printing in Charlotte

Banner printers in Charlotte

Banner prints

We’ve been doing a lot of banner printing this week, so I’m attaching an image of a few that are going out today, for your viewing pleasure.

While our sets go to places worldwide, most people prefer keeping their smaller printing needs local. Have you ever ordered a banner, large format print, or dye sub from somewhere on the net because its cheap? Its scary.

Before we started doing the printing ourselves, we had a couple down to the wire jobs with a printer company that was less than perfect.

When it is 12 midnight, and the client has to have the products next morning, that kind of thing is unacceptable.

If you’re in the Charlotte, NC area, and you need something printed at any size, give us a call and try us out =) You wont be disappointed.

TV Set Design

TV set design

These images are of a TV set design that we recently finished for an area broadcast studio. Though somewhat monochromatic, I think it is beautiful, and a good representation of our work.

The steel framing was powder coated white. The surfaces on the framing is white, milky plexiglas, and p95 Acrylite.

Often, our tv set design really makes me proud of the work we do. This was one of those times.

Dye Sublimation

It doesn't matter if you say dye sublimation or dye sub. Beautiful is beautiful.

It doesn't matter if you say dye sublimation or dye sub. Beautiful is beautiful.

Need gorgeous, durable graphics printed on fabrics? Dye sublimation (commonly called dye sub) is most likely going to be your best bet. Fabrics stay more flexible with less chance of the graphics being damaged when compared to screen printing or solvent printing.

You know those old shirts you had… the ones with the letters cracking and coming off? That was not dye-sub. If they had dye sublimation printing back then, that old shirt would still look good. [edit: it seems they did have dye-sub back then. You should have bought a nicer shirt.]

Click on the image on this post. That is a banner we just sent to Hong Kong to be part of a stage set for Bank of America.

You can read more about dye sublimation on Wikipedia.
