The Stage Set

Very recently Gelbach Designs has completed the construction, fabrication, install, and dismantle of a stage set design for the Club Assist Conference. This stage set design was featured as the centerpiece for the presentation at this corporate event in the ballrooms of the Westin in Charlotte, NC.

Corporate Presentations

Simple stage sets like these are perfect for corporate presentations, conferences, large scale meetings, orientation, training, and team building. This stage set design was constructed out of a lightweight steel frame, a screen, and a dye sublimated drop with punchy colors and a great design by Club Assist’s graphic designer. Setup and dismantle of the stage set was nearly instant. Perfect for the high speed in and out of these kinds of meeting and presentations.

Other stage Set Designs

Take a look at some of Gelbach Design’s stage set designs that we have created over the past 25 years in this nifty little slideshow. Please note: 25 years. There is a great deal of experience in this company making sure that your event is a success and nothing embarrassing happens. There are many pitfalls (quite literally) that can be avoided with good design and planning. Younger companies can learn about stage set design the hard way, but you really don’t want this to happen during your presentation or event.

Mott’s Trade Show Displays

Recently, we have completed 5 gorgeous displays that Mott’s will be using at Trade Shows around the country. These displays are comprised of a large collapsible dyesub fabric graphic, benches, solvent tiled flooring, and wooden displays that imitate a garden box with bottles of Mott’s vegetable juice growing out of the dirt. The displays break down into two medium sized PVC crates for shipping and storage.

Dirt Displays Decisions

Displays are often only printed graphics and frames, so this project was particular fun for everyone. One of the fun points was creating something that looked just like garden dirt. The interesting part was that it had to be completely solid and unmovable for shipping and public display reasons. The end result was perfect for it after much experimentation and settling on a blended combination of sawdust, liquid adhesives, floral moss, and paints (see left of main image). Continuing the garden, we made Mott’s products into plants that grow out of the dirt. This wasn’t really challenging, just fun and a break from the norms for display manufacture (see right of main image).

Display Flooring Solution

Another entertaining development point was making the printed floor tiles robust enough to withstand all foot traffic, while still being beautiful, and small enough to break down into the PVC crates. This part was a bit brain bending for those that worked on the display. I’ll include some of the plans in the gallery below to give you an idea. The end result was a combination of Sintra, ABS plastics, solvent printed vinyl, velcro, and a robust textured PVC overlaminate forming flooring for the display in 8′ x 10′ and 8′ x 8′ alternate configurations. This display flooring is visible in the main image as the green grassy area with stepping stones laid on top of our beat up lime green concrete shop floor.

Woodworking

The homelike warm colored woodwork would have been more challenging, but our woodworking team is comprised of ninjas that listen to country music.

The Extra Mile

Once we created some comprehensive instructions for setup and packing, we had a happy client and a job well done. Does your company or the company you use go the extra step to make sure there is nothing confusing about storage, setup, or packing?

Recent Interactive Graphic Displays

Recent Interactive Graphic Displays

Today we are shipping out 10 displays for a financial institution. The purpose is to show funding raised in an interactive graphic manner, so that viewers can quickly see how close the institution is to its goal just by looking at the display.

The graphic display’s body is constructed using a frame of welded, powder coated 18ga square steel tubing. Large velcro strips are placed on this frame and the face and back so that the display can have a solid appearance, while allowing the clients to access the interior to change the funding thermometer level. This particular set of displays has a steel front to allow the printed magnetic material to be placed and rearranged on the face of the graphic. The steel part of the display was covered with solvent printed pressure sensitive vinyl and cut out on our CNC router.

Displays like this are fun for us, as the client usually just gives us an order and then we get to figure out how to make it work.

Adtech - Game Treat - Trade Show Display

With more than 25 years experience in trade show display design, we do like to show off. Even with modest budgets and small spaces, we can design and build trade show displays that make the adjacent displays look dim, dull, and boring. These images are of a trade show display for Game Treat, a video game oriented service to enrich websites and displays. Johns Hopkins University TV Broadcast Set Design

A new simple broadcast set design by Gelbach Designs for the Johns Hopkins University’s news show.

This simple set incorporates graphics and translucent materials to make a set that could fit into almost any studio space, while keeping it attractive and edgy. The columns in this image are created out of 1″ square powdercoated steel, with a perforated steel imitating silver fleck vinyl on the outside and translucent white vinyl covered PETG sheets on the inside. An array of lights focused on the translucent materials, columns, and backdrop give it that last sparkling touch of vibrance.
